Scott Brown admits he made a mistake by going out on the razz four days before the Scottish League Cup final but says he is fully focused on winning more silverware for his club. Brown was photographed slumped on the pavement of an Edinburgh street eating fast food following a night out last Wednesday. But the Celtic captain showed no signs of fatigue when he helped his side to a 2-0 win over Dundee United at Hampden on Sunday and manager Ronny Deila declared the incident no "big issue" in his post-final comments. Now the Scotland midfielder has declared the incident over and done with following talks with his manager.
Brown said: "I don't think I'm the first player to make a mistake and probably won't be the last but I've spoken to the manager, it's been dealt with and now all I'm doing is moving on I'm sure the club, the manager and the fans know that my total focus will always be on the matches coming up and nothing else but winning for Celtic. It was a real honour as captain to lift the League Cup on Sunday and we now want to push on and try and bring our fans even more success this season. That's all we're thinking about."
Speaking after Sunday's game, Deila claimed Brown had made amends for his error with his performance. He said: "It's not a big case. He was home at 10.30pm, (in the photograph) it looks like he was home at six in the morning. Broonie has played 60-65 matches this year. He had a day off and wanted to be out with his friends. I have no rules about that. I said the players have to be fit and Scott Brown is the fittest player we have but we have a reputation to take care of. It's not a positive example for the youngsters. We weren't proud of the pictures and things that appeared in the newspaper."
