Stevenson'a Career Continues To Rocket

Ryan StevensonRyan Stevenson liked being involved with the Scotland squad for the game in Cyprus and hopes he can convince manager Craig Levein that he deserves to be involved in future squads. Jambo Stevenson, who can play in midfield or as a forward, was an unused substitute as Scotland beat Cyprus earlier this month, but is eager to be considered for the 2014 World Cup qualifying games. The call-up completed a meteoric rise for Stevenson, who joined Hearts from Ayr in January 2010.

He said: "I want to try and build on it and try and force my way in there. As soon as you get a taste for it you don't want it to be a one off. It was a special week for me. To get called up for my country in such a short space of time has been a great personal story for myself. I'll work extra hard to try to get back in."

Hearts play Inverness on Saturday after a run of three losses in four games in which they have failed to find the net. Stevenson went on: "We're disappointed with the last three or four results. Over the last three or four weeks we've been playing well, but we just haven't really been getting the breaks. It's tight in the league. We're only seven points ahead of them (Inverness). (And) we can't really dismiss them as the bottom of the league and we're going to turn up and win. Terry Butcher's a good manager, they've got a good squad of players. We know what to expect but from our own point of view we need to make sure we get the three points and try to catch the teams above us."
