Psychological Warfare Ahead Of Play-Offs

C:WindowsTempphp6FF9.tmpHibs manager Alan Stubbs says his side will take confidence from their previous wins over Rangers this season but insists they will have no bearing on the outcome of Wednesday's play-off semi-final first leg at Ibrox. Last September Hibs ran out 3-1 winners at Ibrox before inflicting a 4-0 defeat on Ally McCoist's version of Rangers at Easter Road over Christmas. A 2-0 victory back in Glasgow on 13 February all-but signalled the end of McCoist's time in charge of the club but within 10 days of Stuart McCall's arrival as Rangers manager the former League One champions had got the better of Hibs for the first time this season, 2-0 at Easter Road on 22 March. Motherwell, who were consigned to second bottom of the table following their 2-1 defeat at St Mirren last weekend, await the winners of the play-off double-header for the right to play in Scotland's top flight next season.

However, Stubbs says the pressure on the players, and the ultimate prize on offer, will make for a very different game on Wednesday. He said: "The previous results will certainly give them confidence and belief, but I don't think it will have any bearing on the game. Wednesday will be a totally different game, totally different circumstances and there is more pressure riding on this game. But going there, and the results that we have had at Ibrox, will definitely give the players confidence. When they came here (to Easter Road) they adapted to what they had previously been playing and they deserve credit for that.  But this is a different game. We are really excited, really up for it and, to be honest, we can't wait for the game to start now."
