St Mirren manager Danny Lennon got a late Christmas present that he felt he and his players deserved after coming from behind to win at Inverness. Lee Cox gave Inverness an early lead but late goals in each half from Steven Thomson earned the Paisley side a vital three points. Thomson levelled the score seconds before half-time from 25-yards and he hit the winner from half that distance with five minutes left in the game. Saints had missed out on their Christmas day dinner to travel north on Saturday to prepare for the game and the sacrifice proved worth it for Lennon. The Buddies manager said: "Every manager would have been asking Santa Claus for three points today and I'm delighted that we got them because I've been a good boy this year. It's a very difficult place to come and we are delighted with the three points and our overall performance, which was very good. It probably took their goal to get us started to be perfectly honest. We created three or four very good opportunities and (Ryan) Esson made three very good saves in the first half and to be fair I didn't want the half to come to an end." |
