Glasgow City Sign Susan Fairlie From Hibernian

Last updated : 21 May 2014 By Laura Montgomery

Susan comes to the Scottish Champions with a wealth of experience having played for Hamilton Accies, Celtic and most recently Hibernian, where she scored 13 goals in the SWPL last season.

Commenting on capturing Susan’s signature, City Head Coach Eddie Wolecki Black said:”I have long been an admirer of Susan and was on the verge of signing her a few seasons back. She will add a different dimension to the players we have at the club and I am certain she will fit in really well. It is no secret that we have had to carry a number of long term injuries this season with Emily Thomson, Sarah Crilly, Alyshia Walker, Danica Dalziel, Ella Stephan, Julia Scott and Lauren McMurchie all ruled out. As always we look to carefully add to the squad when the opportunity arises and once we knew that Susan was available, we were keen to speak to her. It has been a long time since we have had what is generally regarded as an out and out goal scorer at the club. Susan has shown in the past she knows where the goal is and has scored against every team in Scotland, including ourselves. We will look to develop her and play to her strengths. I am certain she will compliment our play. I am looking forward to working with Susan and wish her well.

On joining Glasgow City, Susan said: “I am absolutely delighted at the prospect of playing with Glasgow City. I believe that this opportunity has come at the right time for me both personally and professionally. I am looking forward to the expectation of challenging for both domestic and European silverware and I am aware of the hard work and dedication that lies ahead of me, however I am fully prepared for that. I have been brought up with strong morals and values and I hope that my future performances will display aspiration, ambition and excellence. I look forward to contributing to the Glasgow City community.”

Susan goes straight into Glasgow City’s squad to face second placed Rangers at Petershill Park on Sunday in the top of the table clash.
Kick off for the game is 2pm and entry is cash gate.
