Everybody Is Looking To The Future

motherwellMotherwell winger Steve Jones is not keen on working in a shop so is hoping he can earn a contract to stay at the Fir Park club. The winger is currently on loan from Walsall and he is one of number of players whose time at Fir Park is up at the end of the season. He said: "My contract at Walsall finishes in May and obviously I am a free agent and hopefully something might happen. I think the decision will be left to the end of the season. I want to concentrate on the football with Motherwell to earn a new deal because otherwise I could be working in Tescos this time next year. But I am confident of my ability and I think I have a few games left. I am doing the second part of the A-licence course in Belfast and I will take it from there but I am hanging on because I still think I can give a lot.''

Motherwell manager Stuart McCall has begun contract talks with a couple of players' agents as he looks ahead to next season. The former Bradford boss said: "The offers I will be making will be good offers and we are hopeful. Sometimes in football, as in life, it is not all about getting an extra five quid, it's about job satisfaction and enjoying coming into work in the morning. I have said to a couple of players that the grass isn't always greener and if you are happy and content where you are, then you don't have to chase the extra buck, although I'm not saying that's what they are doing. Hopefully we don't get any offers for our players. Getting in the Scottish Cup final and making the top six means we don't have to sell. We are not desperate for money and it will take a really good offer for any of our players to go.''

Chris Humphrey is doubtful for game at Tynecastle thanks to a dead leg. The winger has struggled to shake it off this week and will be assessed on the morning of the game. Midfielder Steve Jennings is also touch and go with a knock.
