C:WindowsTempphp3714.tmpAberdeen have suffered a blow after being told defender Ash Taylor, who signed a contract extension to 2017 last week, will require knee surgery after he picked up an injury in Saturday's 3-3 home draw against Dundee. Derek McInnes' side are challenging for the first Scottish title since 1985 and are two points ahead of Celtic at the top of the table but have played two games more.

A statement on the Dons' website read: "Defender Ash Taylor will require surgery following a scan on the knee injury he suffered during the weekend 3-3 Pittodrie draw against Dundee. The former Tranmere player will have an operation after the scan revealed cartilage damage. While the 24-year-old, who last week signed a contract extension with the Dons, is expected to be out for some weeks, an exact timescale will not be determined until the surgery has been completed."
