Third Time Lucky For Motherwell

Motherwell welcome Dundee to Fir Park tonight to finally get to play their Scottish Cup fifth round game. The tie has already fallen victim to a waterlogged pitch on two occasions. But, having had a section of the Fir Park surface relaid, manager Mark McGhee says it will be third time lucky tonight, insisting: "
It will go ahead this time." McGhee has urged his players to not take anything for granted when they face Dundee. The Steelmen are flying high in the SPL, with Saturday's win over Kilmarnock keeping them just a point off third place with three games in hand over nearest rivals Dundee United. McGhee is well aware that his side are favourites to be lining up against Queen of the South in the next round . But the Motherwell boss said: "It will be a hard game and will be no different to facing another side in our own division. I've got no doubts that Dundee could hold their own against most teams in the SPL. I'm just hoping we play as well as we can play. If we do that, then I'm confident that we can progress. If not, then we could get beaten." Motherwell go into tonight's game on the back of a welcome 1-0 win over Kilmarnock in the SPL on Saturday. It was their first game in 18 days and McGhee admits a competitive game was crucial ahead of the Tayside club's visit. He said: "I think it was important to get 90 minutes under their belts yesterday. Everyone needed it and I'm sure they will benefit from having had the game."

Dundee are seven points adrift in the First Division title race and keen to steer their promotion drive back on track. But manager Alex Rae insists that does not mean they are not taking the chance of a Scottish Cup quarter-final place seriously too. Rae has a clean bill of health but will be without Mickael Antoine-Curier and Colin McMenamin, who are both cup-tied. Speaking on Sunday, Rae said: "
We will take care of tomorrow's tie and hopefully try to get a good run going. Motherwell are flying high at the moment and we know it will be a tough game but we are keen to give a good account of ourselves."
