Another Scotland Loss

Last updated : 22 February 2004 By Ed_ScottishFitba
It is not really time to be a Scotland fan is it. We lost against Wales at rugby and football, we lost against England at rugby yesterday and now Scotland's women also lost 6-3 to France in Montpellier yesterday afternoon. The game was marred by the weather as the torrential rain turned the pitch into a quagmire. The playing conditions were very difficult, as the rain was incessant throughout and the pitch became increasingly waterlogged.

The Scotland goals came from Debbie McWhinnie and a double from Julie Fleeting, but neither side can have taken many lessons from a game in which the weather was the winner. Scotland's women do no have a game next month as Italy have cancelled the planned friendly. Unless coach Vera Pauw can arrange something quickly, their next game may be the UEFA qualifier on April 10 against Ukraine, in Simferapol.
