Ukraine 2 Scotland 1

Wednesday night saw Scotland Women lose 2-1 to Ukraine in Mariupol in their 2nd UEFA Qualification game for EURO2009. Although Scotland dominated most of the game and Julie Fleeting had a goal controversially disallowed in the 1st half. Ukraine went ahead just before the break thanks to Natalia Zinchenko. The Ukrainians increased their lead 22 minutes into the second half when Tetyana Chorno scored for the home side. Scotland did not waste time getting back into the game when Julie Fleeting scored with a header in the 68th minute but Scotland could not find an equaliser. Fleeting's goal brought her international tally up 95 goals in 95 appearances. 

The result puts Ukraine on top of the group with Scotland dropping into 3rd equal with Portugal with whom they drew at home on 6 May. The next gamefor Scotland Women's A Squad is a friendly against Belgium on Sunday 26 August at McDiarmid Park.
