Time For A Win

Chris Iwelumo is determined, along with the rest of the Scotland squad, to provide George Burley with his first home win when they welcome Iceland to Hampden tonight. The national manager has been in charge since January 2008 but his home record still shows a zero in the win column. Scotland are not doing that much better as their last home win was against Ukraine in a European Championships qualifier 18 months ago when Alex McLeish was in charge. Enough is enough says Iwelumo who admits a win is long overdue.

He said: "
This is the time. It's going to happen at some point so Wednesday is a time to do it. We know what's at hand and what we have to. There's no time like the present. We're disappointed about the Holland game but we've got to let that go now and focus on the next one which is massive. There's no negative thinking in the squad. We know what's at stake and we're confident that we can get Georgie Boy his first win at Hampden."

With Scotland are likely to adopt a more positive approach for tonight's game, Iwelumo hopes to be one of the two strikers in tonight's formation which will give him a chance to make up for his glaring miss in the goalless draw against Norway. He said: "
I've scored for Wolves recently, although it was a long time coming. It was against my old club (Charlton) as well which added a wee extra bit to it. I'm feeling good and hopefully we can all go into the match on a high and show what we're about."
