National Pitcture Clearer For Driver
Updated Tuesday, 8th June 2010
Fifa just ghave to say yes to a change of text and Andy Driver can be picked for Scotland.
Andy Driver could yet play for Scotland's A side if FIFA confirm his eligibility to play following a change to the British home nations agreement on eligibility. FIFA's executive committee are looking at the text while they are in Johannesburg and it is expected to be ratified. The law has been changed to include the term "five years' education up to the age of 18", which will allow Driver to play in Craig Levein's side. Driver did not qualify under the previous agreement as he was narrowly short of the required five years' schooling. However, the change of wording will work in his favour and FIFA is expected to ratify the new agreement as the change has already been passed by all four home nations.
Fitness permitting, Driver can then be named by Levein in the Scotland squad for the friendly against Sweden in August . The player had represented Scotland at schoolboy level after moving north at the age of 11, however he was capped by England Under-21s during last summer's European Under-21 Championship.
