Matt GilksScotland could have another player born in England pulling on the national strip with the news that Craig Levein may give believes Blackpool goalkeeper Matt Gilks, born in Rochdale, may have what it takes to be called upon for the national cause. Gilks has been on Levein's radar for a while and his name may be in the squad list to be announced tomorrow (Monday) for the EURO2012 double-header against Lithuania and Liechtenstein. Gilks' grandmother hails from Perth which means the 'keeper is eligible for Scotland and he is said to be very keen to nail his colours to Levein's mast.

Levein
said: He is one we became aware of a while ago and have kept track of his progress. Obviously he was a key figure in Blackpool’s promotion to the Barclays Premier League and while I will not name my squad until tomorrow, he is one I think we need to take a closer look at. He comes highly recommended, is playing regularly for his club and the next logical step is for our goalkeeping coach to work closely with him. As I have said since I took this job, we need to cast our net as wide as possible to make sure we have the strongest squad possible. If there are talented players able to represent Scotland then we have a duty to do our homework and make sure we leave no stone unturned.”
