According to reports in the German media, Celtic are said to be interested in tempting Bayer Leverkusen striker Andrei Voronin to Scotland. The Ukraine international is tied to the BayArena until 2007, but Bayer are reluctant to renew his deal. This strange as he has scored more goals that his strike partners Stephan Kiessling and Sergej Barbarez. The German club could be tempted to cash in on him during the winter transfer period, rather than losing him for free next summer.

German magazine, Kicker claims that Gordon Strachan would like to bolster his options up front. With qualification for the next round of UEFA Champions League action secured, Strachan has the resources available to prise Voronin away from the Bundesliga. Voronin has spent his entire career in Germany, where he played for Monchengladbach, Mainz and Cologne before moving to Leverkusen.
