Dundee fans have yet to see their new high profile buys Craig Burley and Fabrizio Ravanelli in action. They may be disappointed again if they expect to see them playing in the next home game against Partick Thistle. The fans were given the opportunity to welcome the pair as Dundee took on Perugia and that’s all they’ve seen of the pair so far. However, manager Jim Duffy made it plain that he’s not prepared to field them until they are up to speed and ready to do the business in the top team. Duffy said: "It’s far too early to say for these players. They have not played competitive football for five months and it is a case of getting them games. Craig has been carrying an injury and today is his first taste of full-blown training with us. Fabrizio has been training, but missed a couple of days as he has a virus, which has also caused Dave Mackay to miss training. I don’t want to build up the fans hopes, as I know they are desperate to see these players playing for us. However, they also have to be fit enough to play in these games, so it may need a bit more time." Meanwhile Dundee have been approached about Jonay Hernandez's availability for Venezuela's World Cup qualifying ties against Ecuador and Colombia in November. Manager Duffy appears laid back about the prospect of Hernandez gaining his second cap when he said: "I don’t see a problem in that." However, World Cup and friendlies are different. Duffy is less keen to see the full back travel for a friendly fixture this week. He said: "They have asked for Jonay to play but I feel it is just too close to the Perugia game, so we’ve asked for his release." Club v country is always a difficult one to resolve to everyone satisfaction.
