 Kilwinning FA yesterday (10th July) notified SWF that their senior team is folding with immediate effect and therefore withdrawing from Barclays Scottish Women’s League One. The timing of this announcement, which comes after affiliation, leagues being established and as fixtures for the coming season were being finalised, is very disappointing, and comes despite the fact the club has an active pathway.SWF stands ready to support any player who will needs assistance looking for a new club as a result of the decision. As per the constitution, the Perform and Win Committee have powers to determine the composition and structure of leagues and competitions, and have determined that the late withdrawal opens up a potential additional promotion slot into Barclays League One from the SWFL. Competition rules state fixtures must be issued four weeks ahead of league kick off. SWFL Central Champions Dunfermline Athletic and SWFL West Champions Bishopton have been approached about playing an additional promotion play-off this Sunday to meet this deadline. Both clubs have agreed, and therefore the additional promotion play-off will take place at Kirkintilloch Community Sports Complex with a 3pm kick-off on Sunday 13 July. Existing 2024/25 play-off rules will be applied, and the winner will take a place in Barclays League One for the 2025/26 season. |
