Dryburgh Athletic have moved to the top of the Barclays Scottish Women’s Championship after an impressive 3-1 win at previous leaders Bonnyrigg Rose. Jen Brown opened the scoring for the home side before Megan Robb scored a brace for the Dundonians and provided a late assist for Clara Laing to add a third, as Dryburgh’s defence held firm to claim three massive points in Scotland’s third tier.
Kyla Thomson scored five for Stenhousemuir (pictured) as they ran riot at home against East Fife, with a final 8-2 scoreline moving them up into the top half of the table. Rossvale beat Elgin City 6-0 to go second and Forfar Farmington notched an impressive 5-1 win in Inverness against Caley Thistle.
Dunipace recorded their first victory of the season with a 3-1 win at Ayr United, while Stirling University held firm against a second-half Morton comeback to win 3-2.
In Barclays League One, St Mirren put early season concerns to rest with a convincing 5-0 win at home to Dunfermline Athletic, to gain last year’s title hopeful’s first points of the season. A late brace by Lois Geddes meant Queen of the South enjoyed a bright second half at Palmerston to beat Edinburgh South 4-2, Inverurie Loco Works and Giffnock SC played out a 2-2 draw at Harlaw Park and a Sarah Tait hat-trick helped Cambusdoon a 4-1 win in Airdrie.
In the Aberdeenshire derby, Westdyke went in front early but Huntly equalised just ahead of half time. The visitors scored in the 85th minute and looked to have snatched the first derby victory of the season in Barclays League One, but two late, late goals from Westdyke made it 3-2 and kept the points at Lawsondale.
In the ScottishPower Regional League Cup group stages, Arbroath beat Dundee East 9-0, Aberdeen City won 5-1 against Buckie Ladies and local rivals West End beat Stoneywood Parkvale 3-1. Stewarton Annick recovered from their Scottish Cup travels to beat Benburb 3-2 while Dalkeith Thistle romped to an 8-0 win over Edinburgh Caledonia.
