Partick Thistle came through the Alba Cup test against Clyde and claimed a place in the second round thanks to 2-1 win. Kris Doolan headed a good early chance wide for Partick but the hosts did not have to wait long to break the deadlock. It was not the sweetest of strikes but they all count and Liam Buchanan will be glad he mis-hit his effort as it went past keeper John-Charles Hutchison and into the bottom corner after just 12 minutes. Clyde were stung into action immediately in search of an equaliser and got their reward just after the half hour as Adam Strachan found the top corner with a 25-yard free-kick. Doolan saw another close-range header fail to find the net shortly after the restart but Ryan MacBeth ensured Thistle would progress to the second round when he rifled home a fine shot from distance in the 71st minute.
