Not Over Till It's Over

Rangers' Barry Ferguson thought he would have to end his second stint at the Ibrox club earlier this season. He did not exactly hit it off with Paul le Guen when he arrived to take on the responsibility of taking Rangers further than Alex McLeish. Ferguson was stripped of the captaincy and dropped from the side at the end of last year. However, things moved quickly and it was Le Guen who left the club. Rangers turned to then Scotland manager Walter Smith to return to Ibrox to get the club back on course. Le Guen headed to Paris Saint Germain, and Ferguson feels things have worked out well for all concerned. The relationship built up with McLeish continues on the international scene.

Ferguson said: "
It's turned out he got what he wanted when he left the club and I've got what I wanted which is to get back playing for Rangers. That was my main concern. It was the hardest ten days I have ever been thorough. I thought at one stage I would have to leave again, which I did not want to do, but thankfully things have turned out for the better. We have got a new manager and coaching staff in and things are great now. There is a great buzz about the place, which wasn't there before. I think everyone could see that."
