| Hibs' World Cup star is not in trouble as many people would have us believe. I am sure Bobby Williamson would be able to get over the language barrier if he was not pleased with his late arrival back as Easter Road.

 | Missing - presumed in Edinburgh |
| The season of rumour continues. This time it is Hibs' coach Bobby Williamson who has had to quash some ill-informed judgement on the willingness of Ecuadorian star Ulises de la Cruz's to return to the green and white cause. There were suggestions that the player, who was impressive in his games in the World Cup, had been lured to stay away from Edinburgh and wait for the calls from interested clubs. It had been suggested that Italian surprise package, Chievo, were willing to tempt de la Cruz to join them. Despite the suggestion that he had gone AWOL, Williamson was happy to announce that de la Cruz had returned for training on Tuesday.
Apparently there was some confusion over the player's expected date of return from his extended break (allowed due to his exertions over in the Far East). He was expected back in Scotland last Thursday but his return was delayed due to confusion over flights from Ecuador to Britain. Williamson was happy to end the speculation that the player would be fined for arriving late for pre-season training. Williamson said on Wednesday: "I don't know where this story has come from, perhaps it is related to last weekend rather than this weekend. I've always treated such stories with suspicion, something always seems to be lost in translation and that has certainly happened on this occasion. Ulises joined the squad for training yesterday (Tuesday). He looked fit and well although it may be he'll have a little catching up to do. As for his future, nothing was said other than he's looking forward to playing for Hibs next season. He's very much in our plans and he will, of course, be part of the party which will travel to Finland on Friday." I wonder if Hibs will have more luck surviving the trip to Finland than their Edinburgh rivals, Hearts.
