Pars fans should not read too much into Saturday's league win against Hibs according to defender Phil McGuire. The two sides will play again on Sunday with Hampden being the neutral venue for the Scottish Cup semi-final. McGuire headed the goal that made the difference between one and three much needed points in their fight for SPL status next year. Saturday's game was seen as a dress rehearsal for Sunday's game. The former Aberdeen player acknowledges the win gives the team a boost heading into the next meeting but hopes supporters' expectations have not risen. He said: "It's a boost yeah but next week is a totally different game. It's a completely different game. It's going to take a great effort like Saturday to take anything in the tie. If we carry on doing that we will see what happens next week. It's a semi-final at Hampden, a chance to play in the last game of the season and everyone wants to play in these games. For a club like Dunfermline it would be great to get to the final again and to give the city a boost."

McGuire's performance in central defence was all the more impressive given the fact he had been laid low with a virus and was not fully fit going into the game. McGuire, however, pointed to the performance of Tam McManus after the former Hibs player put in a terrific shift up front. Despite failing to get on the scoresheet, the striker caused the Easter Road rearguard problems by never giving them a minute's piece. McGuire added: "
Tam did a great job for us again up front, he is busy. He was suspended the previous week but he came in and did a great shift. He was at them all the time and that's what you have to do and that is what we are all about, working hard and creating chances and we saw that on Saturday. The tone comes from everyone. The fundamentals are that you defend from the front and I think we did that against Hibs, right throughout the team. There was not a player that played below par, it was a great team performance. Everyone played their part which was fantastic."
