Lots Of Changes In Angus

Some big news for Montrose fans on and off the field as the club have announced they have appointed Hunter Construction to install the new all weather playing surface at Links Park. The laying of a polytan third generation pitch will take eight weeks and cost £340,000. The project required the club to work closely with GlaxoSmithKline and Angus Council. There will also be other improvements that will result in the provision of two additional changing rooms, improved catering facilities, upgraded car parking provision and additional astro grass area to the east of the main stand. Director of football Kenny Black said; "
It's going to be a very busy close season ensuring that the new pitch and related works are completed to schedule. The benefits to Montrose and District of these facilities are already well stated and we look forward to seeing this new provision enhance active sports and football opportunities within the area."

This week also saw the club name Brian Winton as their new chairman, who takes over from John Paton who stood down in February. Winton comes from a footballing background as President of Albion Boys Club in Aberdeen and is also an Operations Manager within the oil and gas sector in Aberdeen. He said: "
I see this summer as the start of a new era at Montrose after a lengthy period of under performance. I'm sure the new facilities, our commitment to a youth policy and hard work behind the scenes will see us move forward. The club also wish to thank Bill Robb transition chairman for his valuable assistance in taking the club through the recent unsettled period. Mr Robb's work commitments made his continued boardroom input unrealistic." Ex chairman Paton has been named as Hon President in recognition of his services to the club over many years. John Ednie joins the board and will be accountable for elements within the commercial team.
