Lithuania Or Estonia? Which Is Better In July?

Written by Ed_ScottishFitba
Wednesday, 7th April 2004
Edinburgh could be welcoming Lithuanian or Estonian opposition in the InterToto Cup.
The draw for the first three rounds of the InterToto Cup were made yesterday with Scotland's representatives entering the fray at the second round. At the moment, Hearts are in pole position to take that mantle. However, as they look to make the UEFA Cup through their league efforts, their Edinburgh neighbours have shown an interest in taking their place. Whichever club eventually is forwarded by the SFA, they will have to consider a trip to either Estonia or Lithuania in early July. The InterToto Cup is a gateway to the UEFA Cup and Celtic's opponents on Thursday night, Villarreal, used the competition as their springboard to progress in the UEFA Cup.

Whichever clubs are finally chosen as representatives for the Lithuanian and Estonian football associations will face-off in June with the winner facing a potential double header with Scotland's reps on the weekends of July 3 and 10. The winners of that round will then move onto play opposition from France, Denmark or the Faroe Islands in the third round.
