Gretna are under threat of being relegated to the Second Division if they lose their fight to retain SPL status. The club's Raydale Park is the reason behind the possible double drop with the SFL looking for information about the state of the ground which is not used by Gretna for their SPL games as it does not meet their criteria. Gretna chief executive Graeme Muir claims it is ridiculous to think such a drop could be taken, when Scotland were playing EURO2008 qualifiers at away grounds which are inferior to Gretna's home. He said: "We are now becoming the laughing stock of Europe. I'm a member of the Tartan Army and I was in Lithuania with Scotland. They've got a stadium which is fine for Euro 2008 qualifying matches but it's worse than Raydale. They've (the SFL) sent us a letter asking us about Raydale. It's an interesting one. We as a football club have a full club licence. It means we meet all the criteria. There are other grounds in Scotland which are not all that clever. There's ramshackle grounds, and I don't think we fall into that category." |
