Divided We Fall

Hibs did not seem affected by the on-going dressing room unrest when they played Dunfermline on Sunday in the Scottish Cup Semi-final at Hampden. The game ended in a goalless draw but not for the lack of trying by Hibs to win the game. Club captain Rob Jones has promised that the internal strife that dogged the club recently will never be repeated. He said: "The dressing room was more unified than ever. We are all going in the right direction. This will be cleared up, I guarantee that fact to every supporter, I will make it my priority to make sure something like this never happens again. And that's a guarantee to everybody associated with the club. We all want the same things and it showed on the pitch. Everything the gaffer asked for we gave him. The fans have always been behind us. As long as fans see that each individual player is giving their all they are thoroughly behind us, and we gave that. Things like this should never happen at a club like Hibernian Football Club. I guarantee that as long as I'm at this football club things like this will never happen again."

Winger Ivan Sproule also insisted the players were reight behind Collins and his assistant Tommy Craig. He said: "
The one thing I can assure you is that every single player in that changing room is playing for the gaffer and Tommy. Whatever happened has happened and players are knuckling down. You are not going to keep every player happy. I have probably given them as many problems as anyone else. I'll be the first person to knock on the door whenever I'm not in the team but that's the nature of me. And obviously they say when I'm not playing well. We are all men and we have to stand up and take it." The Northern Ireland international does not feel there is any need for more talks to iron out the issues. He went on: "I think the talking has to be done on the pitch, we're not politicians, we are footballers. The inconsistency in the league has taken a toll, but you can blame management and formations, and players like me can say this was wrong and that was wrong, but we're the players out on the pitch so sometimes it has to fall upon our heads. And personally speaking sometimes it just doesn't work out for me."
