Now that Scotland's woman are making a name for themselves, it appears that the world is taking notice. Well, at least the world champions are. The USA have invited Scotland women's international team over to play them on Sunday 8 September in Ohio. This will be the first game for the squad which they will play without the guiding hand of Vera Pauw. Pauw has announced her retirement and will be leaving the SFA next month. This allows Tony Gervaise to take charge of the team, assisted by Sheila Begbie for the game. The game will be a big challenge for the Scots as it is the beginning of their season but it is the end of the US season. Pauw said: "It is a great opportunity for Scotland to see the type of quality they will now face in the first strength category and they can only learn from this experience. The team know all about the US players and will relish the challenge of playing them."

The US Team will be made up of players who are slightly better known that their opposition. However, Scotland captain Julie Fleeting knows the US midfield very well as they are her new team-mates at San Diego Spirit. This will allow he to give her teammates an invaluable insight into the American set-up. For those who have the technical know how the match will be live on ESPN.
