Preparing for and taking part in international football does not come cheap. A welcome boost to the coffers is always welcome.
Scotland's women's international football squad has been lent a helping hand by the sportscotland Lottery Fund to the tune of £90,000. The financial backing will give the women's game a welcome lift ahead of an important year of competition.
Scotland's women's A squad are getting ready to face Russia next month, on Sunday, August 28, in the first World Cup qualifier for the 2007 Women's World Cup in China. Their Under-19 counterparts kick off their UEFA U-19 European Championship group against England in Hungary today (Wednesday). All such trips and preparation cost money so a fillup to the bank balance does not go amiss. |
