Another Win For Scotland

Last updated : 20 August 2004 By Ed_ScottishFitba

At least Scotland’s women know how to win a game. They beat Switzerland 6-0 in Dingwall yesterday afternoon. Captain Julie Fleeting managed to nab three of Scotland's goals in their comfortable win. It is a pity that the game was played behind closed doors which provided little atmosphere for the players to react to.

However, after Julie Fleeting opened the scoring in 27 minutes the floodgates opened, with Scotland scoring another three by half time. The other goals were scored by Joanne Love in 33 minutes, Suzanne Malone shortly afterwards, and Fleeting getting her second. Into the second half, the rout was completed thanks to Malone in 56 and finally Fleeting three minutes from the end.

The result will lift the spirits of the team as they prepare for their forthcoming UEFA qualifier against the Czech Republic, also at Dingwall, on Sunday, 5 September. Scotland must win the match to have any chance of reaching the play-offs.
