|Rainer Bonhof's Scotland Under-21s side lost 2-0 at home to Romania at Firhill tonight. The visitors made a flying start as they took the lead after just five minutes. Mihaita Plesan surprised keeper Craig Samson with a quickly-taken free-kick, rifling home a superb 40-yard effort from the right side. Ciprian Andrei Marica almost made it 2-0 but shot wide when well placed, with Scotland struggling to make an impact. Their best first-half effort came on the half-hour as Andy Dowie headed over from Simon Lappin's corner.|
After the restart Kilmarnock keeper Samson made several fine saves to keep his side in the hunt, before Jamie McCunnie's long-range drive on the hour offered a ray of hope to the home side, but it flew harmlessly over the crossbar. However, the visitors struck on the stroke of full-time to wrap up victory. George Mihai-Floresch was in the right place to slide the ball past Samson form close range to complete the 2-0 win.
