Scotland 3 Finland 1

Scotland U19 Women came back from 0-1 down to win 3-1 over Finland last night at McDiarmid Park. The first half saw Scotland enjoy most of the possession than the higher ranked Finnish side. However, against the run of play, Finland scored from a long range free kick after 23 minutes. Scotland were not disheartened by that turn of events and after a blistering run forward from Jennifer Beattie, Jane Ross scored the equaliser just 9 minutes later.

The second half saw continued confident attacking play throughout with dangerous set pieces. Scotland went ahead in the 52nd minute when a superb cross from Clare Docherty was converted by a header from Jennifer Beattie. In the 77th minute it was Beattie again who killed the game with her 2nd goal, running down a fumbled shot by the Finnish goalkeeper. U19 Coach, Tony Gervaise, said:  "
We are going in the right direction. I am pleased with the level of concentration and organisation, which was the foundation for a very good victory".

Scotland U19 Women can now look forward with a degree of confidence to the Second Qualifying Round of the UEFA Euro U19 Championships in Germany next month.
