Scotland's youngsters managed to get all three points against hosts Northern Ireland in the four nations mini-tournament in Belfast last night. They may have left it late but better late than never as they say. Scotland won 1-0 thanks to a goal from Derek Carcary of Rangers scored seven minutes from time.  The youngsters must have been keen to impress the watching Scotland manager Walter Smith who wanted to see what could be available to him in the future.

Scotland now go into Wednesday’s final game showdown against the Ukraine with the prospect of winning the tournament. Scotland and Ukraine both have four points. The latter drew 0-0 with Northern Ireland in their first game and beat Spain 3-2 last night. Wednesday's game, at Seaview, kicks off at 7.30 pm. The management duo of Archie Gemmill and Tommy Wilson will be hoping to keep another clean sheet at the very least.
