Malta 0 Scotland 5 (Under 17s)

Scotland Under 17s have completed their playing duties in Malta with a comprehensive 5-0 win over the hosts in Valletta last night. Scotland coach Ross Mathie made eleven changes to the team which had won 3-0 on Monday and the news faces took their chance to show what they could do. International debutant Kris Renton of Norwich City opened the scoring in 18 minutes, and Jonathan Stewart of Hearts made it two jus six minutes later. Half time: Malta 0 Scotland 2

After the break, another debutant, Scott McManus of Stenhousemuir, made it a memorable start to his international career when he scored who twice in 41 and 66 minutes. McManus should really send a 'thank you' card to the player he replaced at the last minute in the squad due to injury. The goal tally was finished off by Carlo Monti of Celtic in 68 minutes with the fifth and final goal. Full time: Malta 0 Scotland 5

Scotland continue their preparation for the challenge of their UEFA Under 17 Championship qualifying group in March with two games in Northern Ireland next month. The UEFA Under 17 Championship qualifying group is being hosted by Germany.
