First The Kirin Cup And Now The La Manga Trophy

Scotland Under 19s are carrying on where last year's vintage left off. They have picked up their first trophy after winning the La Manga Tournament with a 2-1 victory over Norway last Thursday. They were sitting on four points after beating Austria and drawing with Slovakia and knew they needed to win the game to be sure of first place.

Things did not go according to plan, however, as they watched Roberts put the Norwegians ahead in 16 minutes. A strong claim for a penalty for handball was denied, but Scotland did eventually equalise five minutes before half time thanks to Gretna's Fraser McLaren. In the second half both teams had to deal with a strong wind but Scotland mastered the conditions better as they stamped their authority on the game and got the deserved winner in 57 minutes scored by Aberdeen striker Andy Bagshaw.
