"We need to try and play the way Holland played against us"
The Dutch taught Scotland's players a lesson on Saturday evening and it's one that Gary Teale hopes they will put into practice for Wednesday nights game against Iceland in World Cup Group Nine. George Burley's side head into the game on the same points, same number of games played but with a poorer goal difference, due in part to Holland's three goals scored in the Amsterdam ArenA on Saturday. Scotland now have to rely on getting into second spot to make the play-offs for South Africa 2010. To help achieve this target, Derby midfielder Teale insists Burley's side has to "force the issue" when taking on Iceland. He said: "We need to try and play the way Holland played against us. We need to try to force the issue, make sure we are on the front foot and obviously make chances. At the end of the day, it is a vital three points that we have to take."

Teale is at a loss as to why Gary Caldwell's effort was chalked off against the Netherlands but admits he might have been the player referee Laurent Duhamel penalised when it was 2-0 to the home side. He said: "
I don't know if he (Duhamel) gave it against me but I was standing in front of their goalkeeper with Dirk Kuyt. Neither of us were fouling each other but the goalkeeper couldn't come cleanly to collect the ball. I would need to see it again but I don't think there was too much in it. If we had scored, it would have made it more interesting. We had our best spell then and were trying to knock the ball around and it certainly would have given us a lift. But it wasn't to be on the night."

Real Madrid winger Arjen Robben was the star man for Holland but Teale claims giving the Dutch "
too much respect" helped Bert van Marwijk steer his side to their fourth group win on the bounce. He said: "In the first half we gave them too much respect and let them pass the ball about a lot more than we would have liked. Robben is different class. Obviously, I have played against him before in the Premier League but, again, I think we gave him too much time and respect. If we had shut down that space he might not have been as effective but he is a top-class player."
