Scotland's women travel to Cyprus for some competition and training in the sun of Cyprus
Scotland are to co-host the Cyprus Women's Cup along with England and The Netherlands next month. Eight teams will compete in the International Friendly Tournament, an increase from the inaugural competition which had six countries involved, between 5-12 March 2009 in Cyprus. England, France, New Zealand and South Africa compete in the tournament for the first time, while holders Canada will be there to defend their title. Scotland have been drawn in Group A alongside England, France and South Africa. Holders Canada are joined by The Netherlands, New Zealand and Russia in Group B.
Scotland National Coach, Anna Signeul, said: "The first Cyprus Cup was a fantastic competition, played in a beautiful part of the world, and we're delighted that even more top sides are taking part this year. It's always a bit special when Scotland and England face each other, so we'll be looking forward to that tie on 10th March. We can't wait to get out to Cyprus to test ourselves against some great teams, and get our preparations for the World Cup qualifiers later this year off to a good start."
