Davidson Raring To Go

Looking for cap number 18
Callum Davidson is hoping he will get a chance to show what he can do if selected for tonight's game against Norway. He says he is fit, ready and on-form and looking forward to the game. The Preston North End captain picked up the last of his 17 Scotland caps against Canada almost seven years ago but lack of form and fitness have curtailed his international aspirations since.

Davidson, however, was given the nod by boss George Burley for the Oslo trip and celebrated his call-up by converting a last-minute penalty to give the Lancashire side a point in their Championship opener against Bristol City at the weekend. Davidson said: "
The call-up is a real bonus for me. I've worked really hard, got in a couple of squads last year, but unfortunately got injured. So I'm just delighted to be here. My self-confidence is quite high so I'm just looking forward to being part of the squad. I think it is a must-win game and we've got to go and look at it that way. It's going to be a really tough game, a real battle but we've got to do what we can do to win."

Despite the crucial Group Nine match being so early in the season, the former St Johnstone player believes there will be no ring-rustiness among Burley's men. A win tonight would eliminate bottom side Norway and leave Scotland needing a win against Macedonia at Hampden next month to secure second place and a possible play-off spot. Davidson said: "
Norway are in mid-season but I think we've all played enough games now not to worry about the fitness side of it. We're all pretty strong at the moment anyway, so I don't really think that's an issue."
