George Burley has described Scotland's game against Holland at Hampden tomorrow (Wednesday) as the biggest one of his life. Burley knows that nothing less than a win will be enough to make the play-offs against a Dutch side who have already secured their place at the World Cup next summer by being winners of Group Nine. While it is mathematically possible for a draw to be enough to reach the play-offs, nobody in the Scotland camp or in the fan base will want to rely on other results. Scotland are second in their group, but their record of 10 points from seven games makes them the sixth-best out of the nine current runners-up in the European qualifying section. There is still the situation where the calculator is required as results and points secured against the weakest team in the other groups have still to be deducted. The former Ipswich and Hearts boss is confident that with the Hampden crowd behind them his players can pull off an upset and boost their World Cup hopes.

He said: "
Wednesday night against Holland will be the biggest game of my life. I've coached Ipswich in Europe but I've never had anything like this because there's nothing bigger than World Cups and representing your country. You look at the fans at Hampden and you can see what it means to them. It was great to give them a win against Macedonia. I told the players at half-time 'you will win this game'. We had the strength and passion to overcome Macedonia. I urged the team to keep going at half-time and they responded with some great stuff. I was optimistic."
