As pre-season preparations continue, Hearts are still on the lookout for a new man to finalise the deatils. Is Romanov looking for a Weiss man?
Meanwhile, Thordarson, now at IK Akranes in Iceland, revealed his interest in the job. He also claims "it's a fact" that he would be asking Scotland assistant boss Terry Butcher to become his Tynecastle number two should he be appointed. He said: "Things really got rolling when the Hearts board realised I could bring along people like Terry. When I said Butcher wanted to be my assistant they seemed impressed and it's a fact he would join me." Thordarson's son Toddy Gudjonsson, who is the IA Akranes chief executive, had insisted Hearts had not made an official approach for his father. However Thordarson senior claims there has been contact through his agent, and he would be willing to take the job if the working conditions are right. He said: "If people are ambitious in their proposals I'm willing to look into them. But I'm not losing sleep over this." Zygmantovich, who has worked with Romanov in the past with MTZ Ripo in Belarus and FBK Kaunas in Lithuania, remains an outsider for the post at the moment. | ||||
