Travelling In Hope

C:WindowsTempphp1AA0.tmpOn the last Saturday before Christmas, Inverness will be travelling to Greenock hoping to pick up all three points on offer to continue their impressive run of results and steady progress up the table. A win would put Inverness level with Morton, and potentially only three points behind the play-off positions.  Experienced hand and manager John Robertson is too wily to be counting points before they are secured.

He said : "
Against Dumbarton last week we had the chance to overtake them, which we took in a tough match; and this week we travel to Morton with the possibility, if we win, to go level with them and that’s the aim.  We’ve looked at the teams above us and we’re sneaking closer to Queens, Livingston, Dunfermline and Morton. Morton are the team immediately above us so they become our next target.  Morton are like every team in the league, they are capable of some wonderful results. They can beat the best, there’s no doubt about that and they can lose to everyone else, that’s what they’ve done. I think Morton and Queen of the South have gone under the radar, they’ve got good quality players, they’ve not been too far off the play-offs, they’ve been quite safe from the relegation scrap and have always been just two or three points off the play-offs.  Nobody is mentioning Queens or Morton, and all of a sudden Queens got themselves into third spot and now people are talking about them as title and play-off contenders. That’s where we need to get to, the fact we’re getting closer to these teams proves we’re heading in the right direction and we want to get into that pack, go under the radar until the last quarter when it’s time to strike for home."
