Hamilton will be on the look out for the spectator who threw a coin at David Weir yesterday.
In the event that Hamilton are successful in naming the supporter responsible, they face a ban from the Lanarkshire club. Purdie went on: "When we find the culprit I will report it to the police. Whether they are a season-ticket holder or not they will not be allowed back into the club. I thought this sort of thing would be finished with. I don't want to highlight it too much because the more you highlight it...it's like hanging a sign saying 'wet paint, don't touch'. Rangers, in that case, are trying to play it down. I've spoken to [SPL delegate] Alex Smith about it. He didn't see the incident either and whether it's contained in his report I don't know. We will carry out our own inquiry anyway." Accies boss Billy Reid said: "If someone threw something, that's hugely disappointing. That's not what this football club is about. If it has hurt David Weir, then we apologise." Weir was not injured during the incident, with Rangers manager Walter Smith confirming: "He was hit by a coin but he is fine." | |||
