Two ambitious sides battle it out to gain ground on league leaders St Johnstone

Second plays third in the truncated First Division card today as Livingston strive to eat into the lead held by St Johnstone at the top of the table and Dunfermline want to overtake Livi. Home manager Roberto Landi looks as if he will have to cope without promising striker Leigh Griffiths for the game as he is set for another spell on the treatment table after he suffered an injury to his knee in training which could require surgery. Griffiths had only just returned from a long period on on the sidelines and had been involved with the Scotland Under-19 before he suffered the latest setback. The injury to Griffiths leaves Italian boss Landi with a selection headache as he also has striker Raffaele De Vita out with a long-term injury.

Dunfermline player-manager Jim McIntyre may have to add his name to the team-sheet as his side aims to bounce back to winning ways after they suffered a home defeat at the hands of Dundee last weekend. He had a run out for the reserves on Tuesday along with midfielder Graeme Holmes who came through 45 minutes after a long spell on the sidelines. McIntyre said: "Holmes will need four or five games in the reserves before he is ready to come back after having serious surgery. It is important that the return is gradual."
