The Right Offer Is Still Being Awaited

C:WindowsTempphpFD09.tmpJames McFadden is keeping fit as he waits on the 'right' offer to arrive before agreeing a return to competitive football. He has been without a club since bringing a second spell at Motherwell to a close. Working with Partick Thistle has enabled McFadden to stay fit which has attracted interest from a number of clubs, but he has yet to commit to a contract. McFadden is confident that an exciting opportunity will present itself in the near future, with the former Everton and Sunderland man prepared to bide his time.

He said: "I am ready to go. I have six good weeks training at Thistle and I feel sharp. I have had offers but whatever has been there hasn’t been right for one reason or another. The next move has got to be the right one and I am going to have to make a decision pretty quickly. I just need somewhere to show what I can do."

McFadden has lost none of his belief in his ability, with the man with 48 Scottish caps refusing to rule out the possibility of an international recall at some stage – with new Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon having shown that a spell in the wilderness can be overcome.

McFadden said: "I am not finished yet so we will see what happens. Seriously, you never know do you? Craig Gordon had been out for two years and he comes back and is back involved in the squad. I have to have that aim or else there is no point in playing football. I play for the love of the game and for enjoyment and whenever I get a team, hopefully, I can get back playing to the level I know I can play at. Obviously it is a bit different with Craig, he has been out for a long time and he has come back and gone straight back in. But it just shows you, if you are back playing well then the manager will pick you, it doesn’t matter about your age or how long you have been out."
