Not another piece about Spartans but Cove Rangers preparations for admission to the SFL

Gretna's successor in the SFL will be decided on Thursday July 3 and a number of clubs are vying with each other to be the pick of the bunch. There are stricter criteria to be met this time around and clubs are checking everything before they are visited by SFL officials. Thursday is the deadline for applications to join the league and Cove Rangers are working hard on both the paperwork and the more physical things at Allan Park to make sure their application is viewed favourably. Cove have failed in previous applications thanks to the physical attributes of their home ground which were not up to the standard required. Chairman Keith Moorhouse said: "We are going ahead with our application, we are being completely realistic and our heads certainly aren't in the clouds. We believe we have a reasonable chance but we are fully aware the whole thing will hinge on the SFL clubs' view of our new facility for obvious reasons. We know Allan Park was the reason we didn't succeed last time."

There could be up to eight applications heading the SFL HQ including the likes of East of Scotland teams Spartans, Preston Athletic and Annan Athletic. Moorhouse knows that a lick of paint and some nails hammered home will not be enough to win the vote but he believes his club can't miss the opportunity despite being in a consultation process about moving to a new stadium at Calder Park, Cove. He said: "
We currently have a full squad of guys working at Allan Park right now on a list of jobs we identified a month ago. We have to show ambition, we are ambitious people."
