It does not take long for a new manager to know the value of the players he has inherrited

Just because he is new to the SPL, don't expect New St Johnstone manager Steve Lomas to allow players to leave the club without getting a realistic price for their services. He has already placed a price tag in excess of £1million to even consider selling Murray Davidson. The midfielder was in impressive form as the Saints secured to a goalless draw against Rangers at Ibrox on Saturday. Lomas claims he has already seen enough of Davidson to value him in excess of £1million, significantly more than the offer Rangers made in the summer, which former boss Derek McInnes labelled 'ridiculous'.

Lomas said: "I've already got the handcuffs out for Murray. He's a fantastic player and we saw at Ibrox what he's all about. He got forward into the box throughout the match and showed what a fantastic athlete he is. I know Rangers tried to sign him in the summer and Murray is good enough - but hopefully not just yet. If we're talking about him moving on it'll need to be one hell of an offer. He's worth over a million quid."

When asked about a possible move sometime to Rangers, Davidson was non-committal saying: "I can't affect whether Rangers or whoever come in for me in January, all I can affect are my performances on the park. If they're of a standard that isn't good enough I'll find myself out of the St Johnstone team, never mind any other team. I'm 100% focused on St Johnstone."
