It does not matter who is in charge, Lee McCulloch will not play for Scotland again.

With speculation rife about the future of George Burley as Scotland manager, at least one player who quit international football during his term of tenure will not be returning to the fold. Lee McCulloch has said he will not come out of international retirement if Burley loses his job as expected. McCulloch ruled himself out of selection due to family reasons days before Burley's first competitive game, an inauspicious 1-0 loss in Macedonia in September 2008.

McCulloch's last game for Scotland was the 2-1 defeat to Italy in November 2007 and he pulled out of Burley's first squad through injury.  Further injuries meant he was not included in squads before he made his decision to quit for family reasons and so he could regain his fitness and club form. And he is adamant that he will not make a U-turn if Burley loses his job this week when the SFA board make up their mind on the managerial position  following Saturday's 3-0 defeat to Wales.

McCulloch said: "I'm finished. I made my decision for my own reasons. If the manager did change, I wouldn't really want to do anything about that. I made my decision and I stick by it. I don't know if the manager should be changed."
