Ex-Stirling Albion striker Jay Rodriguez has just become a £6Million player after Premiership bound Southampton signed him from Burnley. Saints are believed to have been broken their transfer record to bring in the striker that had a loan spell in the First Division with the Forthbank side for a couple of months at the end of the 2007-2008 season.

Rodriguez, who scored three times in 11 appearances in his time with Albion, was brought north by then Stirling manager Allan Moore after he contacted Burnley manager Owen Coyle looking for players. Rodriguez made his debut as a second half substitute in a 3–0 defeat from Celtic in a fourth round Scottish Cup tie at Celtic Park before scoring against Morton, Livingston and St. Johnstone. The striker established a career at Turf Moor after a loan spell at Barnsley and he scored 21 times last season as well as making the PFA Championship Team of the Year.
