Allan Johnston was a relieved man after his Killie side ended their losing streak with a 1-1 draw against Partick. The Rugby Park manager went into today's game knowing defeat would have equalled a club-record six successive losses set back in 2010. Killie took the lead in the 11th-minute through Tope Obadeyi, who scored twice in the 3-0 home win over the Jags in September. However, the advantage lasted only eight minutes as Thistle defender Danny Seaborne headed in his first goal for the club.
Johnston said: "It was massively important to pick up a point - we don't want records like that. We know we can play better, especially in the second half, but we worked incredibly hard to get behind the ball and I don't think Thistle had a lot of clear-cut chances. It was frustrating not to go on and win the game after getting the early goal but there were positives for us to build on. We had a chance to win it late on but, if I'm being honest, that would have been harsh on Partick Thistle. They probably had the bulk of possession in the second half even if they didn't threaten us much. But after the run we had been on it is good to come away from home and take a point. We're still in a good position and we have a lot of games against the teams round about us in the next month, so it is a great opportunity."
Partick manager Alan Archibald conceded that there was little between the teams and was satisfied with a point. He said: "There wasn't a lot in it, it was a tight match and there wasn't much football played at all. The teams cancelled each other out but I thought we had the best chance to win it with James Craigen at the end. We played in patches. I thought in the first half we had a couple of phases that were good and we passed the ball about. I was disappointed with the goal we lost, we allowed the cross to come into the box but I was delighted with the reaction to get back in the game. It's another point. We're disappointed with a point because we wanted three but we'll take it and move on."
