St Johnstone want to get maintain their lead in the First Division as hosts Morton look to climb the table.

Morton manager Davie Irons is hoping to have three players back from unjury for today's visit of St Johnstone. Stevie Masterton (knee), Dom Shimmin (groin) and Ryan McGuffie all missed a closed-doors match with St Mirren on Tuesday but could be ready for action against the league leaders. Irons has also decided not to follow up any interest in two French trialists who both played 45 minutes against St Mirren in midweek but neither did enough to earn a contract. Irons said: "They were put forward to us just before the weekend and, as we had a bounce game in place, I decided to take a look. Whether they were not ready I don't know, but they were just not up to what I am looking for."

St Johnstone boss Derek McInnes should have a full squad to choose from today after his only injury doubt, Graham Gartland, came through training unscathed on Thursday and is likely to be ready. With only two games played since the 27th December, McInnes is keen to ensure that his players remain sharp and focused. He said: "We're trying to keep a good momentum going and we are training at a high tempo to keep the boys on their toes. The lack of match practice is far from ideal but we will prepare properly for what is always a tough game at Cappielow."
