Hearts captain Michael Stewart looks set to have Sunday's red card at Hamilton dismissed after referee David Somers reconsidered his decision and referred the incident to a SFA video review panel. Stewart appealed his 48th-minute sending off in the stormy 2-1 loss at New Douglas Park, which saw a total of five dismissals during and after the game. Somers reviewed video of Stewart's tangle with Hamilton skipper Alex Neil on Tuesday afternoon and held his hands up to say he was unhappy with his decision. An SFA review panel is expected to examine the incident on Friday. If they overturn the sending off that would save Stewart having to serve a three-game ban starting with Saturday's game with Dundee United.
Such a decision would be welcome news for Hearts, who will be without Ismael Bouzid, Ian Black and Suso Santana through suspension this weekend. The latter two were handed the equivalent of post-game red cards on Sunday, Suso for his part in starting a mass brawl in the tunnel after clashing with opposition striker Leon Knight. Black was red-cared for insulting and abusive behaviour at the final whistle, while Hearts masseur Alan Robson was also sent off. Black will serve a three-match ban, Suso will miss two games and Bouzid - who received two yellows on Sunday - one. Robson's punishment will have to be decided as he does not sit on the touchline with the back room staff on match days. Hearts still face another record SFA fine after failing to improve their disciplinary record this season.
There was another more piece of good news for the club when manager Csaba Laszlo said he was confident Lee Wallace would be fit to start Saturday's game against United. Left-back Wallace injured his ankle in the win at Kilmarnock a week and a half ago but intensive treatment allowed him to sit on the bench at New Douglas Park. Laszlo said: "I hope that Lee is okay for Dundee United. He was close to making the game on Sunday so hopefully the extra week will make all the difference. It will be a positive thing to have him back as the game this weekend is a very interesting one. Dundee United are performing well at the moment but we need the points and are focused on producing a good result for the supporters."
