stmirren jpegSt Mirren are investigating comments made on a social network site by one of their players. In a statement on the club's official website, Buddies general manager Brian Caldwell said the club "condemns all sectarian behaviour" and have begun a full investigation into the comments.

Caldwell said: "Allegations of posts being made by players to social network sites have been brought to our attention. Subject to the club's disciplinary procedure a full investigation has been launched so it would therefore be inappropriate to comment further at this time. The club condemns all sectarian behaviour and supports all efforts to eradicate it from the Scottish game." It is believed the player being investigated is a member of the Saints under-19 squad.

The news comes a day after Berwick terminated a young player's amateur contract for a comment on a social networking site made in relation to the recent parcel bomb addressed to Celtic manager Neil Lennon.
